I think that entrepreneurs are strong, admirable business people. Ever since I was younger, I have had an older brother who has always strived to be an entrepreneur. He started an idea for a company his senior year of high school, and since then he has started creating and growing his company idea. My brother, James, is currently 22-years-old, and he has worked very hard to create his company. His company idea is designed to help high school students throughout their curriculum with helpful videos, exercises, essays, and more.
Personally, I do not think that I have very many entrepreneurial characteristics. I would love to gain a better understanding of what it means to be an entrepreneur through this course and to develop certain skills. I believe that entrepreneurs can see the world and business in new and innovative ways, and I would love to be able to see things in that view. Hopefully, this class will teach me what it truly means to be an entrepreneur in today's society.
The photo attached below features a picture of my brother, who has worked very hard to start The Opus Project, also known as Queralyze. I believe that his company will thrive if he continues to put as much effort toward his work as he has already been doing.

ReplyDeleteWallace,
ReplyDeleteYou and I are approaching this semester with the same attitude. We are hoping to garner the skills necessary to develop some entrepreneurial characteristics. I find it fascinating that when we were younger we saw individuals with those entrepreneurial skills all around us. We may not have recognized them as such, I know I didn't. In my “Entrepreneurship Story”, I referred to the same desires for myself with this course. You can read it here at http://jww3.blogspot.com/2016/01/my-entrepreneurship-story.html. It sounds like your brother has hit on something that a lot of High School and starting college students could definitely benefit from. I wish him, as well as you all the best in the future. Good luck this semester.
Jim
Wallace,
ReplyDeleteI like that you are coming to this class with an eager mindset although you do not believe you have the typical characteristics of an entrepreneur. All entrepreneur's do not share the same characteristics, but the same mindset. It is more of a perspective of the world than a set of personality traits. Bill Gates and Mark Cuban have two different personalities but both have success because they were able to identify an opportunity and take advantage of it. If you keep that mindset, I think you will learn a lot from this class. I wish you the best of luck this semester!
