- One of the largest problems that our society faces today is issues with hunger and poverty.
There are many people who live on the streets and are starving for multiple different reasons. Sadly, this can cause people to resort to doing terrible and harmful things in order to obtain money or food. I think that communities should allocate more money in their budgets that would go towards building shelters that can provide food and simple shelter.
Business Insider - Another large problem that society currently faces would be the amount of youth that are resorting to the illegal use of drugs and alcohol. Society has portrayed the usage of these items to be cool and fun. These ideas have led to youth ingesting large amounts constantly without moderation and has led to multiple accidents and deaths. I propose that at an early age, teachers and administration constantly incorporate safe drinking curriculum throughout class courses.
- A major problem that affects multiple different countries are the clear signs of discrimination and racism throughout communities. There are acts of violence and hate that are committed constantly in certain areas, and this needs to stop. I think that school curriculum, starting at a very young age, should be urging social equality and acceptance. Mentors and guidance counselors should always be providing a positive and healthy example.
- Another problem that the world faces as a whole includes the global water crisis. With out population growing so exponentially, there is a growing need for clean, drinkable water. Our population has been growing faster that the supply of clean water can replenish itself, therefore our water supply has dropped. I think that we need to figure out a way to create a machine that can filter and purify ocean water. Also, I think that every individual household should adopt green ways of collecting clean from water from rain storms.

Business Insider - Global warming is a problem that society continues to ignore, but it is eminent. Climate changes are occurring across the globe, and this is causing dangerous results. Large corporations and businesses need to figure out ways of producing products in more eco-friendly ways that emit less harmful gases into our environment.
- I believe that the spread and threat of war between nations is a constant problem around the world. Countries are always competing with one another in order to be considered better than all. This type of conflict is irrational and destructive. I believe that there are ways to make certain trade and product agreements between countries that can lessen these conflicts. Certain agreements about who should be the key manufacturer of certain goods in order to ensure that no one country can sufficiently thrive without the help of another would ensure civility.
- Economic instability is another problem that threatens the entire populations. Our economies are unstable and unpredictable, and the population worries that one day it will crash and cause a crisis. I believe that there should be much more dedication to the study and analysis of past economical situations in order to prevent a recurrence. This way, we may be able to more readily predict when a problem might occur and then take the necessary steps needed in order to provide a solution.
- There is a decrease in food production from agricultural farmers because of the climate changes. The unpredictable climate changes are having detrimental effects on farmer's crops, therefore there is a smaller supply of food. There should be efforts from people in society to become more eco-friendly in order to help the environment rejuvenate itself. People should make the transition to electric cars, shop from local farmers markets, recycle, and many other practical changes.
- Illegal gold mining in Peru is causing terrible climate change throughout the globe, and also resulting in mercury poisoning to the people who live in the area. The illegal gold mining has been occurring in excessive amounts in unsafe ways that are causing detrimental effects. Governments from more established countries such as the U.S. and China should contribute to helping Peru figure out ways of protecting gold mines. This could be through enacting new laws in Peru or figuring out new ways to constantly monitor these areas through drones or cameras.
- I think another large problem that the United States faces slightly more in comparison to other countries is the obsession with appearance and material items. This causes young children to develop self-detrimental illnesses and to focus on purely making money instead of focusing on self-fulfillment and happiness. I think that this is a bigger problem than people really comprehend because we have become so accustomed to these ideas and morals being socially acceptable. Society, meaning large corporations and media outlets, should be focusing on promoting self-acceptance. Schools and media outlets should be promoting the message that happiness comes from knowledge and self-acceptance, not money.

I never knew about the illegal gold mining in Peru! I'll have to take a closer look into that, it sounds very interesting. Self-fulfillment can be applied to people around the world but I really think it hurts the children in the United States the most. Knowledge and judging people not on their appearance but on their character is what I have always believed in. Social equality is very big problem that has erupted over the world, and it's a problem that must be figured out. Overall I really enjoyed your list and your points that you made. I learned a lot and thank you with providing so much detail on the topics you covered. Check out my blog if you get a chance: http://dylankojo.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeleteHi Wallace,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list of worlds problems! There are many things that I chose to put into my list as well. Topics such as water crisis, global warming, constant war, racism, and poverty. I am not sure if this was in order from the severity but I actually had poverty as my number one as well!
