The Twenty Percent

Overall, I think that the entrepreneur does have an accurate understanding of who his target audience members should be and what their unmet needs are. He definitely comprehends what his customers are looking for, and I think he appreciates what they are expecting of his business. I definitely think that all of the audience members seemed to be intent on in-person advertising, as opposed to mainly social media advertisements. One of the obstacles that the entrepreneur will have to address is marketing to an older demographic because there are some teachers who work very well with technology and some who do not. This is going to be a hard distinction to make moving forward, and he will have to learn how to market and advertise appropriately. However, one issue that the last interviewee implied was that teachers can be very steadfast in their ways. It can be hard to introduce a new teaching tool to an experienced teacher who believes that his or her current techniques already work. Teachers generally prefer specific teaching methods for specific reasons, and a company that markets a general tool to assist in this may be hard to integrate into curriculum. Other than this issue, I believe that the young entrepreneur has a very promising business, and his target audience definitely seems to be interested and open to the concept!

This first interview is the young entrepreneur. ^^

**Note: The last interview was cut off for some reason, and I could not get it to properly upload the full interview. The only part that I am missing is the last question, and I am sorry for the inconvenience. I do not have contact with this person because he was a random teacher that I asked to interview, so I could not re-record the final question. I am sorry for the technical difficulty!

  1. I was not able to do this assignment as I couldn't find an entrepreneur. So reading this was extremely helpful, I learned quite a bit about this. It is extremely intriguing, I also really enjoyed you getting the feedback from random strangers. This was a very enlightening assignment that I missed.

  2. Wallace,
I think you did a great job analyzing this entrepreneur and his business strategy. I think you had a insightful thought when you brought up the obstacle of having to figure out how to target the older teachers who might not be as technological and stubborn. Our entrepreneurs were definitely different in their services as well as their target customers. I think for this guy to be successful he needs to better identify his 20% so his company is not to general. To be successful, although you want a wide target audience, you need to find ways (like Pizza by the Slice has) to really keep the same customers coming back.

  3. I enjoyed your interviews! I like that you were able to get people to talk on camera! I unfortunately did not do this assignment because I was not able to find an entrepreneur where I am. I am currently studying abroad in Dublin, so I don't know many people here so it was hard for me to find someone who was an entrepreneur. For the person you chose to interview, what exactly is his 20%? With that information I think that he would definitely be more successful if he identifies who that is. Overall great job! 4. Hi Wallace,
I think you did a great job with your interviews. Your entrepreneur was really knowledgeable about his target audience, and their unmet needs. Just like you mentioned in your posts, he knows that they are looking for, and how to give it to them. Also, the customers that you interviewed fit really well with his demographic.
While doing this assignment, I had a hard time finding the customers, as my entrepreneur mentioned that his main competitor was Ikea, and the closes Ikea is nearly an hour dive from my house. For that reason, I went to Home Depot, but I feel that the customers at Ikea would have given me better answers.

  5. Hey! Awesome job. I can tell you really put a lot of effort into this assignment! Your interviews were great. Our entrepreneurs were completely different, and I think thats cool because it just shows how much diversity entrepreneurship has. I did my assignment on the owner of a dance studio, but like yours, my entrepreneur knew what her target audience was and how to satisfy their unmet needs as well.
