This interview of the domain expert is with the manager at
New Scooter 4 Less, and his name is Mike. He was worked with the company for
quite some time now, and he has recently moved to the Gainesville location. He
manages the store and thoroughly enjoys working with the company. I went to the
Gainesville location and asked to speak with a manager, and he agreed to sit
down with me and talk to me. I explained my business idea to him, and he
thought that is seemed like a good idea. I really appreciated that he took the
time to sit down with me and listen to me explain my idea, and I enjoyed
listening to him talk about his business. I think he will enhance my network
ability because he knows a lot about the business how to properly market to my
target demographic.
This interview is conducted with a girl named Erin, and she
is an employee that works for New Scooters 4 Less. She has worked with NS4L for
a decent amount of time, and she has a lot of experience working with marketing
to the college student demographic. As a market expert, she has to work with
college students every time she is at work, and she explained that it can be
difficult to sell helmets to college students. I went to the local scooter
store, and asked to speak with an employee. Erin volunteered to be one of my
contacts, and I spoke with her about my business idea. I think that speaking
with Erin will enhance my networking opportunities because she has a lot of
experience working will college students. She understands how to market to
them, and she knows the challenges that it can hold.
I have not had many networking experiences in the past, but
I really learned a lot from talking with the employees at New Scooters 4 Less.
All of the staff members at NS4L were very helpful, and they all gave me some
really great incite. I appreciated this networking ability because it helped me
understand what it it really like to go out and make new contacts. I enjoyed
talking to people, and it was really great getting some advice from real
professionals in the business. If I were to network in the future, I would
definitely try to make sure that I make in-person contact. I think speaking
with people in person makes a much bigger impact then simply calling or sending
an email.
Hello Wallace,
ReplyDeleteI wasn't too sure what your idea was until I went back and watched your elevator pitch. I really liked the idea, a couple years ago my wife and I had one for riding around our neighborhood and she would never wear a helmet because it messed up her hair. I think this would have been great for her. I realize trying to get a supplier/manufacturer interview would've been very difficult so I think you did great with the options you had. Check mine out..

I had a hard time completing this assignment and I really learned the importance of having a large and reliable network. I love how you were able to build your network through this assignment and meet new people in your field. I really like your idea as I think it would be a great opportunity and would be extremely successful. When you are doing anything in life it is always helpful to get advice from someone who has been there before, so I hope you continue to talk to others about how to further develop and implement your business plan. I wish you the best of luck on your venture
