- Throughout this reading, a lot of different ideas and topics really stood out to me. Personally, the biggest surprise to me was that Amazon was included in what the author referred to as the "Fab Four" of innovation. The first three companies in this 'fab four' were apple, google, and Facebook. I understand how these companies are role models for innovation, but I had never really thought of Amazon as one of these companies.
- One area of the reading that initially seemed confusing to me was the section that talked about entrepreneurial culture versus administrative culture. Before this reading, I had never really thought of these two things under separate categories. There are a lot of differences between the focus in an entrepreneurial culture and the focus of an administrative culture. The author pointed out differences between what drives an entrepreneur and what drives an administrator, and many other interesting differences.
- If I could ask the author two questions, I would ask him whether he considers himself to be an entrepreneur or an administrator. I would also ask whether or not he believes that associating with one or the other can be beneficial to him as an author. I think that it would be interesting to learn which he associates himself with, and why.
- Overall, I learned a lot through this reading. There was nothing in particular that I necessarily disagreed with. I think the author did a really good job with clearly explaining each topic and idea that he put forward. Also, I do not think that the topics he outlined were topics that could be considered too controversial. I definitely enjoyed this chapter, and I think that the overall concepts throughout it were very well written.
